Mary Margaret Cozart is an indie rock singer/songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia.

Drawing upon southern roots spanning Alabama to North Carolina, her sincere storytelling is charged with refined guitar work and fastened by a warm yet austere voice.

Since entering the Athens music scene as a University of Georgia student in 2019 with folk duo Common Currents (“some of the freshest folk to come around in a while” - Gordon Lamb, Flagpole Magazine), Cozart has released music from her solo repertoire, including the 5-song debut EP “Emerald City” (2021) followed by singles “Georgia to California” (2021) and “Interior Design” (2023). Cozart returns to Atlanta in 2025 having established her name with numerous performances living between Athens and Savannah over the past four years.

“Cozart wrote and recorded her debut EP, “Emerald City,” during the pandemic. The five songs feature arrangements that are dreamy like Oz’s slumber inducing poppy fields, and guitar phrases that shimmer like the domes of the Emerald City. The songs on the record draw a parallel between her life during quarantine with Dorothy’s experiences in Oz.” — Christopher Berinato, Savannah Now

2021

“What’s immediately and thoroughly grabbing is her deft guitar playing, which holds down the rhythm just fine but shines with trills, fingerpicking and more.” — Gordon Lamb, Flagpole Magazine

Cozart’s melodic voice seems to address the listener directly, offering both understanding and encouragement to find the strength to reclaim our lives after this forced hiatus.” — Sydney Amling, VinylMag

“Cozart’s voice is solidly and reliably based around a nice mid-range and her work around this base adds a sense of gravity to her vocals” — Gordon Lamb, Flagpole Magazine
